Two types of symbiotic relationships in the story A Rose For Emily are parasitism and amensalism. parasitism is shown in the story when old lady Emily kills old man Homer with poison, keeps him in the home that they live in, and doesnt tell a single person that he is there. it is a parasite relationship because homer is a homosexual male who did not want to be with Emily, but the grumpy old lady made him stay by killing him with rat poison. So, she benefited from the end result, and homer clearly was harmed in the process. Lastly, there is a amensalism relationship because Emily makes her servant do all the shopping for her. this shows amensalism because she is benefiting from the relationship by not having to leave the house and talk to other people or have people see what she looks like. then the serevant doesnt really gain or lose anything because that is his
Mutualism: both partners benefit. An example would be doing a job together and getting equal pay. this is a way to show mutualism because both people get to spend some nice time together and get paid some good money in the process.
Commensalism: one partner benefits while the other doesn't. for example, when someone you know goes out of their way to take you home it would be a good way to show commensalism because one person is getting a ride home but the driver doesn't really benefit. Amensalism: one partner is hurt while the other is not. A way to show this in a humanly way is if somebody slapped someone else and broke their face and had to go to the hospital, but the other person doesn't get in trouble. seeing how one person is getting hurt and having to pay a hospital bill, while the other just relaxes and enjoys life. Parasitism: one partner benefits while the other is harmed. An example would be taking somebodies money and not repaying them. the man stealing would be getting what he wants while the other man is losing money and getting nothing in return. Pathogen: when the carrier gives the host a disease. if somebody had the flu and kissed another person and got sick, would make this a pathogen example.Causing the person receiving the kiss to get Personally I believe that not all relationships are equal, and I will tell you why I believe this. I find that not all relationships are equal because your relationship with your mom, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, or any other family member or family friend that you are close to could be different than a relationship with another boy, girl, friend, teacher, or coach. It all depends on how much you know the person and what you and that person have been through together. You’re more likely to have a stronger relationship with the person closest to you. For me, I have a really good relationship with my mom, compared to my dad because he is always at work and I don’t see him as much, but on the other hand I see my mom all the time and she takes me just about everywhere. So the relationships are somewhat different between my parents, but I still love em both a bunches:)
Being in a relationship has many benefits as you know you will always have somebody there that you can count on and they will help you do things. If you’re having a bad day at school, somewhere you went, or had a bad game at an athletic event, talking to your best buddy cam help make things a lot easier. After you share a few good laughs you eventually begin to ease up and starting enjoying things again. Also, if you are with a friend and you have to do something for somebody, having a good relationship with that person would help because they could possibly help you do the task that a waits you. Some things could be picking up the house, bathroom, kitchen, room, or basement. In addition to those things, they might be willing to help you pick up dog poop or clean out a cat cage or dog cage or somethin.
In my essay i will be comparing Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith.
In the comparison essay outline that I read, it said that the following set up was the best way to write a comparative essay. The first paragraph says to write an intro, letting the reader know what you are going to be comparing (three or more) in your story. Also, it would be smart to state the purpose of the essay, so it will help the reader know why you are writing about the topic. In addition to the other things in your intro, be sure to have a thesis statement.
Next, you want to take one of the two or more things that you are comparing and write a paragraph about the topic. You should have at least 2 or even 3 main body paragraphs about the topic. Be sure to use facts that make the comparison of the two or more things sound better, or worse depending on what you are trying to persuade the reader to believe about the subject. Include many facts in the paragraph that fully support what you are trying to prove. Also, be sure to stay on topic, don’t start an essay about something and then drift way from the essay subject. Have at least three paragraphs that each has different comparison ideas in the story with at least three supporting facts in each paragraph. Lastly, after you have written your intro paragraph, and done your 2 or more main body paragraphs, you need to have your conclusion. The conclusion should consist of a thesis (just like the intro) and why you firmly believe why you are right on your comparison. Whether it is trying to prove a company’s product is better than another’s, or a sport athlete is better than another athlete in the same sport. Also be sure to prove how your thesis statement was correct. Link: http://www.bookrags.com/articles/5.html my book is titled bleachers and is about a high school all american quarter back that goes back to his old high school and is coming back to his hometown of Messina as his head coach has passed away. This book looked appealing to me because i enjoy the game of football.
In the short story "the haunted house" the author did many things to build suspense, relate the setting to the plot, and relate the setting to the characters in the story. One way he did this is by telling the reader about the large amounts of loneliness he was feeling while walking around in the dreary night by himself and explaining how the darkness gave him the chills every time he thought he heard something it would spook him, and how every moment in the story made you wonder what was going to happen next while he was near the haunted house. The setting related to the plot by having the story take place in the night time on a cold and windy day, a day that seemed darker, and much scarier than any other day or night. While it just so happens that after the tragedy occurred he was stuck by the haunted house just by himself, or so he thought. Lastly the stories setting did not relate to the stories characters that well for the main characters stand point has he was a good guy and didn’t mean any harm, but the story was more of a scary, bad guy setting that made you think something bad was going to happen, and sure enough something bad did happen. But the people who captured the man related to the story very well has they were the bad guys of the story that came out of nowhere to capture the man.
The three forms of figurative language used in the short story “at Sea” are Personification, Onomatopoeia, and a. Personification is used in the story when the author, Guy De Maupassant says “The trawling smack is the ideal fishing boat. So solidly built it fears no weather.” I believe the author used this because he was trying to explain how the boat could supposedly handle anything. The portrayal of the boat helped the explanation of the setting by letting the reader know that the weather isn't very good as they are about to set sail. The author uses an onomatopoeia when the young javels arm gets caught in the fish net and he describes how he screams and weeps in pain has is arm gets caught in the net and begins to bleed. Also it is used when he pours the salt water over the stub of his arm after he cuts it off. When explaining that the arm was caught and bleeding everywhere I thought it foreshadowed the story because you knew they were going to have to do something to the man’s arm. Lastly the author uses a
The theme of the story "the use of force" is that you shouldn't hide things from people even if the thing you are hiding is bad. An example of this is when the little girl goes to the doctor to check and see if she has a disease that has had a sudden out break and people need to be checked. So when it is her turn to get checked and the doctor tries to get her to open her mouth, she won't do it. The little girl continually denies that she has the disease and won't open her mouth for the doctor to check because she doesn't want anyone to know that she has the infection in her mouth. The doctor continues to find and attempt different ways to get her to open her mouth, but still the little girl denies she has it and won't budge. So, eventually the doctor decides to get people to hold her down and then he would open her mouth and check. But even at this attempt the little girl still kicked and screamed as she did not want to get checked out by this doctor. Eventually, the doctor did get to check her and find out she did have the disease. But, all this could of been prevented if the little girl wouldn't of kept it a secret and would have just cooperated with the doctor. Which would of made everything so much easier and this story wouldn't of been written.
