This week of classes we worked on our power of identity projects. We have worked on pieces written by Sherman Alexie, which were the Indian Education, the short story titled What You Pawn, I Will Redeem, and the 10 question paper. The purpose of the project is to help us prepare for our senior projects which we will be starting next marking period. We are creating one slide presentations, and it is showing us how to properly present when using a powerpoint and not to read directly off the power point and elaborate from a sentence on the slide. Learning this will also be helpful for future presentations, especially in college.
During the 2nd week of classes, we began a poem. The poem was about where you were from, and we recorded our poems to be made in wevideo. Since I have had this class before, I am familiar with the basics of wevideo. But, seeing how it was a year ago when I took this class, there had been some changes in the setup and how to interact with your project. For the first day it took me awhile to get back to doing the building and changing the sound of videos. When I used it a year ago I would always crop the videos and pictures the wrong way, but when we were showed how to complete the task this year, I found there was a new feature added in to make it much easier of a process. I have taken time to look more in depth in what you can do on wevideo and found it very helpful for projects in the future where building a video is involved or an option. Also, I found that you can filter your images and videos in a folder, which really helped keep me organized because media from my Pardoners Tale project were mixed with my Where I'm From poem, so sorting those things into 2 separate folders helped keep me organized.
After having this class for a full weak, my understanding of how to use weebly and google documents has grown and I know how to do more things within the weebly editing site. Mr. Schoeborn showed us how to make the tabs inside of the headline tab, by drag your mouse over the menu in weebly. When you create a new page all you have to do is click on it and slide it slightly over to the right. Finding this out has helped me organize my website much better. Learning how to do this helped for the class because he wanted us to create 6 tabs and have them all under the English 12 B tab. We didn't do much during this week mainly because it is the first week of class, but we learned the basic guidelines of the class and got our feet wet with how the class is operated. I really like the whole thing being online because it makes it much simpler to have everything all on one thing rather than having papers all over the place and scattered all over the place. I am excited to finish out my high school English with this class and with Schoeborn
