Gothic romance has mysteries, often involving the supernatural and heavily tinged with horror, and they were usually set against dark backgrounds of medieval ruins and haunted castles. The following are the "5 I's of Romanticism." imagination, intuition, idealism, inspiration,&individuality.Imaginations the faculty of imagining, or of forming mental images or concepts of what is not actually present to the senses. Intuition is the direct perception of truth, fact, etc., Independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension. The 3rd I, Idealism is the cherishing or pursuit of high or noble principles, purposes, goals, etc. The last I is individuality, which is the particular character, or aggregate qualities, that distinguish one person or thing from others; sole and personal nature.
Link:https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/685/05/ The video we watched in class was a very powerful clip. Randy had an impressive attitude, especially seeing how he only had a few months to live before his life was going to be taken from cancer. I really liked how up beat and happy he was, and how he focused on the good things rather than the bad. More people need to have attitudes like him, as he knew he had limited time left to live, but still looked at all the good things in his life, while some people just dwell on the bad things even though their lives may be better than a majority of other peoples in this world. Also, I liked how he talked about achieving your childhood dreams. Everyone always has dreams that can be achieved, and then dreams that are a very far shot from being achieved. The dreams that you can achieve you should go for, as you may be the only one holding you back. As Mr. Pausch put it, you can do anything you set your mind too.
